Patti MacHale Bartol
Watercolor In A New Light
For all levels of painters
August 23 & 24, 2008
$175
Easton, Maryland. Indoors and Air Conditioned
The emphasis of Patti MacHale Bartol's weekend watercolor workshop is a simple and fun approach, designed to show watercolor in a new light.
The awareness of light is very important in painting, and its presence can greatly enhance any subject. Patti will help her students find fresh ways to look at subject matter, and teach how to simplify subject matter for more visual impact. Students will work either from still life set ups and/or from photos. Patti will also teach and explore design, light effects, color techniques (e.g., washes, color infused glazes) and brushwork.
Each day begins with a demonstration and a suggested assignment. The rest of the day will be for watercolor painting and exploration, one on one help, and critiques.
This workshop can benefit all levels of watercolorists, from beginners to more advanced students. The class size is limited to 15 students, to allow more individualized instruction.

Patti MacHale Bartol is an avid and active watercolorist. A signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, Patti's work has been published in the International Artist book “How did you paint that? 100 Ways to Paint Landscapes, Volume 1”. She is currently represented by several galleries.
Patti brings a teaching style that includes sharing both traditional and innovative watercolor techniques, and a thorough knowledge of materials and how to make the most of them, along with large doses of inspiration and personal encouragement.
Her work ranges from the controlled subtle glazes of a misty Maine coastline to a playful wet-in-wet mountain valley of wildflowers. She also enjoys working on a still life with lots of life or a portrait. Whatever the challenge she sets before herself or her students, she believes in simplifying the artistic task at hand to make it more enjoyable.
