Jason Tako is an up-and-coming artist, new to the gallery. Born and raised in rural Minnesota, Jason developed a strong connection with the outdoors at a very young age. In high school, he spent much of his free time exploring and sketching wildlife. This plein air approach, begun in his younger years, allows Jason to capture the emotional element of his subjects. There is an intimacy and looseness captured in these quickly executed pieces.
Jason has progressed very rapidly in the last few years, primarily due to his devotion to experiencing his subjects first hand. Working from life gives his work a natural quality. Jason's palette consists of earthy tones intertwined with subtle inflections of pure color, allowing the eye to dance around his compositions.
At Plein Air-Easton! 2007, Jason won an Honorable Mention in the Quick Draw competition, awarded by judge Kenn Backhaus.
