Robert Lewis is a native Californian who has held a long fascination with the stunning beauty of the landscape. He has a direct point of view that dislodges the usual filters we place between ourselves and the world in which we live.
The combination of his love of the landscape and the practice of seeing directly has naturally led Robert to plein air painting.
He has exhibited widely on the West Coast and participated in major plein air festivals. In the last few years, Robert won awards at the Monteray and Carmel, California, Plein Air Festivals.
Robert Lewis, on Dawn Burning,
"...having collected the dead branches and other farm debris the day before, this morning at dawn is a good time to burn it all. The sun rises above the Chesapeake and a country man tends the bonfire."
