Maggie Furman holds a Master's Degree in Ceramics from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC, and has exhibited in galleries and group shows throughout the United States.
Her large clay pots are individually coil-built by hand, then hand burnished, hand painted, and fired in a low heat reduction firing using sawdust. These pots are dramatically distinctive -- each making a statement with its presence. The shapes and colors have a Southwest influence, but Maggie's design elements are organic forms from the Middle Atlantic region -- including holly, wheat and magnolias.
