Jim Antonius began his career in glass during the late 1960s while employed as a police sergeant in the Los Angeles area. While working for the city, Jim also devoted forty to sixty hours per week to his glass, exploring all facets of glass mediums -- beveling, etching, flintknapping, stained, painting, fusing, lampworking and glassblowing. He has studied at the famous Pilchuck Glass School, founded in 1971 by glass artist Dale Chihuly; and at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass.
Over the past three decades, Jim has completed over 3000 public and private commissions. In 1993, he returned to his home state of Arizona, and built a 3000 square foot studio adjacent to his home. For nine years, Jim was he adjunct professor for the Glass Arts Program at Prescott College.
Jim is passionate about his work, and demands that it be technically challenging, intriguing, provocative, and generate an emotional feeling.
