Notes from Nancy:
Greetings!
This Friday, during Easton's monthly Gallery Walk, we will debut a new body of work by Plein Air-Easton! 2006 Grand Prize Winner, Tim Bell. Known for his vigorous, painterly renditions of Chesapeake Bay skipjacks, Tim has decided that for this exhibit, he would try some other iconic Bay images. Sought after by collectors, Tim was listed in the "Pick of the Palette Top Ten Contemporary Painters to Collect in Delaware" by Delaware Beach Life magazine. Do stop in and meet Tim at the gallery, during the First Friday Gallery Walk on November 2, 2007, between 5 and 9 PM.
During this year’s Waterfowl Festival, November 9, 10 and 11, we are featuring new wood carvings by gallery artist Bill Walker. A Kent Island native and waterman, Walker studied art at the renowned Schuler School in Baltimore. Equally talented in painting, sculpting and carving, Walker has concentrated lately on a series of birds carved in curly and tiger maple, presented on iron stands forged by the artist. During the Waterfowl Festival, Walker will be on the gallery porch fashioning wax models to demonstrate how he begins his cast bronze animal figures, so please stop in and meet this interesting artist.

Jonathan Shaw is exhibiting with the Waterfowl Festival this year. You will find him and his birds during the festival at the Artists’ Workshop, Easton Elementary School, Glenwood Avenue. We will miss Jon and his avian companions. Jon continues to be a gallery artist and we will continue to carry a significant number of his works.
Two artists new to the gallery are David Plumb and Louis Escobedo. Dave is a local talent who garnered many prestigious awards early in his career, and exhibited in Washington, DC, and New York City. Recently, he has decided to re-enter the gallery scene, and we are pleased that he has chosen South Street Art Gallery to represent him. Dave paints delicate, finely detailed still lifes in the manner of the Dutch masters, but often with a subtle modern twist.
Louis is a native Texan who had his studio in Colorado until he moved to Woodbine, Maryland, just a few years ago. Louis' work is loose and painterly, with an exquisite sense of color. He paints all subjects -- figures, still lifes and plein air landscapes. In 1994, Louis won Best of Show in the Oil Painters of American National Exhibition and in 1997 was featured in a major article in Southwest Art magazine.

Coming in December is a special showing of miniature paintings by Diane DuBois Mullaly. For the collector with no space left on their walls, these little paintings are wonderful to use as accent pieces, displayed on stands on bookshelves and side tables. And they make lovely gifts. Also in December, the instructors from the 2007 France workshop, Ed Cooper, Bethanne Kinsella Cople, Sara Linda Poly and Nancy Tankersley will exhibit works painted in France.
We continue to add workshops to our 2008 schedule. Please check our Workshops web site page frequently for updates.
Now that the weather has turned chilly and we are bundled up in our warm clothes, I have a yen to paint.....figures on the beach!! Do stop in and see if I've succeeded.
And now … back to the studio!
