Notes from Nancy :
For those of you who will visit us during our First Friday Gallery Walk on December 7 from 5 to 9 pm, you may be surprised to find that our featured show of twenty miniature paintings, fresh from the studio of Diane DuBois Mullaly, will NOT be in our main gallery! Instead, these small gems will be nestled on the shelves of our corner cabinets and displayed on the fireplace mantel, as they should be. With some measuring as small as 3 x 4 inches and none larger than 4 x 6, these little oil paintings are especially perfect as an accent piece on a little stand -- on coffee tables and bookshelves, or in just about any nook and cranny your home may offer. When displayed, these works should be easily accessible so the viewer can pick them up and peer into the wonderful little worlds depicted within the confines of their frames. Magnifying glasses will be provided, so you won’t miss one delicious detail of these lovely miniature oil paintings.

In contrast, our front gallery room will be hung with selections of large "salon sized" paintings offered by our gallery artists. You may not know that we have a special page on our website, titled Salon Size Paintings, displaying ALL paintings 24 x 30 inches and larger currently in our inventory. If you are looking for a signature piece, please check this page frequently. We add new salon sized paintings to this page as soon as we receive them. When you see a painting you might like, give us a call and we will have it ready for your viewing when you visit the gallery.
Also in December, in the Blue Gallery we are showing a small group of paintings by our French Workshop instructors -- Ed Cooper, Bethanne Kinsella Cople, Sara Linda Poly and me -- painted during our 2007 France Workshop. If you were a student with us in France, please come and relive your experience. If you would like to be one of our next French Workshop students, stop by and see what you have to look forward to!

In addition to all this new art to savor, we also have a special musical treat on Friday evening -- please join us at 7 pm, during the Gallery Walk, to enjoy Christmas carols sung by Easton's own Bach to the Future.
Finally, for those looking for inspiration during the cold winter months of the New Year, local landscape painter David Grafton and I will be offering a Winter Painting Clinic at The Annex, our partnership gallery in St. Michaels. Every Saturday, we will host six students in a morning or afternoon session, providing one-on-one instruction and critique for your current or future painting projects. Please read the details on our Workshops page and sign up now -- spaces are limited. Also, on January 26 and 27, 2008, Diane DuBois Mullaly will teach another Miniature Painting Workshop -- details also available on our Workshops page.
As many of you know, some of the best paintings are often the result of "happy accidents". The same may be said of art exhibits. After my blooper last month where I accidentally sent a message meant for only our gallery artists to everyone on our list, a wonderful thing has happened. Workshop students have responded enthusiastically to the idea of our June 2008 show titled "The Seeing Eye", and several original and inventive ideas have been proposed. I think it is very likely that we can have a show for both gallery artists and workshop artists -- details will be sent to you in a separate e-mail.
Now...back to the studio, and then off to do some Christmas shopping!!
Happy Holidays!
